Tunisia head coach Hervé Renard has called on his squad to play with full commitment and aim for a win in their last group‑stage encounter against the Netherlands during the current FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Carthage Eagles exited the competition following a 4‑0 loss to Japan on Sunday.

Earlier in the tournament, the North Africans began with a 5‑1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match.

Tunisia became the first African team to be eliminated from the tournament.

Even after their exit, Renard emphasized the need to finish the tournament on a high by putting in a strong display against the Netherlands.

Tunisia Must Bounce Back

“We were too soft defensively. The players tried and never gave up, but we faced a team that is far superior to us,” Renard said after the match.

“You have to keep fighting in difficult moments like these. We will need to show pride and character to approach the third match in the best possible way.”

Renard On Defeat To Japan

Renard also reflected on the team's humiliating loss to Japan.

“Japan beating us 4‑0 is not a surprise to me at all. People keep underestimating this team,” added the Frenchman.

“Their movement, discipline and finishing are on another level. In my opinion, Japan are one of the top three favourites to win this World Cup.”
