Trump Evaluates U.S. World Cup Chances

President Donald Trump has expressed his confidence in the United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) during the current World Cup.

Prior to the US victory over Paraguay on Friday night, Trump spoke with head coach Mauricio Pochettino and the squad in a call that also included White House World Cup Task Force CEO Andrew Giuliani.

He said he believes Pochettino’s side has a strong chance to advance far in the tournament.

“Well, I just got to say you are a fantastic guy [Pochettino], a fantastic coach, and you are all about your record and your success, and I know how great the players are. I think you have got a really good chance of going all the way. I just want to wish you a lot of luck,” Trump said (via The Athletic).
