Nigeria defender Igoh Ogbu has successfully undergone surgery following an injury sustained while on international duty, the DAILY POST reports.
The centre‑back ruptured his Achilles tendon a few days before Nigeria’s friendly match against Portugal.
According to his club, Slavia Prague, Ogbu will be sidelined for approximately three months.
The 26‑year‑old is expected to miss the start of the next season.
Ogbu had appeared in three consecutive matches for the Super Eagles before the injury.
The former Nigeria junior international was part of the squad that won the Unity Cup invitational tournament, featuring in the games against Zimbabwe and Jamaica.
He also played the first half of the 2‑2 friendly draw against Poland.
