The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has accused the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice‑Presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of allegedly “snatching” 69 registration forms for various political offices in Kano State, creating confusion and uncertainty for the PRP.
At a press briefing held at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano, PRP State Chairman Abdulkadir Musa Guza said he had travelled to Kaduna to attend the party retreat and to collect forms for PRP candidates contesting positions in Kano. He added that he was informed that someone had purchased all the forms.
Guza further stated that when he asked the national secretary of the PRP for clarification, he was told that the individual was Kwankwaso. “We are in talks with him about a possible defection to our party,” the chairman explained.
After several days without any indication that Kwankwaso was defecting, Guza suggested that the candidate might be engaged in a “mischievous mission” against the PRP, noting that it is impossible for a person to hold another party’s forms while belonging to a different party.
The chairman added, “We don’t know his motives, so we are informing everyone about the situation.” He expressed concern that the confusion has left many PRP aspirants uncertain about their political prospects.
Guza said the party would pursue legal action if Kwankwaso refuses to return the forms before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) closes the submission period for contestants’ names. “It is not only our party that is suffering; other parties are facing similar problems,” he added.
