The Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, popularly known as AKOD, will lead prayers for victims of banditry and other security challenges across the country today, Sunday. He will also extend support to vulnerable persons in Ikeja and neighbouring communities as part of the activities marking his birthday.

The event will bring together religious leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups and residents. It is designed as a thanksgiving for God’s protection, guidance and blessings over the celebrant, his family and the administration of Ikeja Local Government.

A major highlight of the celebration will be a Special Thanksgiving Service scheduled to be held at the Celestial Church of Christ, Archdiocese, Agidingbi, Ikeja, at noon.

The service will be hosted by the Chairman of the Ikeja chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Organisers say the thanksgiving service is intended not only to celebrate the chairman’s birthday but also to seek divine intervention in the nation’s security challenges, particularly the plight of citizens affected by banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.

As part of the programme, AKOD will visit selected churches and community centres within Ikeja and its environs to offer prayers for children and families currently being held captive by criminal groups in different parts of the country.

“The chairman is also expected to use the occasion to reach out to vulnerable and less privileged members of society through acts of charity and support initiatives aimed at easing their burdens,” the organisers said.

“The humanitarian component of the celebration reflects Dauda’s commitment to inclusive governance, social welfare and community development, regardless of religious, ethnic or social backgrounds,” they added.

“The birthday activities will culminate in a grand reception organised by youth groups, political associates and supporters across Ikeja Local Government in recognition of AKOD’s contributions to grassroots development and public service,” the organisers stated.

The event will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the progress recorded by the local government administration over the past two years and to reaffirm support for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

“We wish the chairman continued success, good health and greater accomplishments in both his public and private endeavours as he marks another year of service and leadership,” the organisers concluded.
