Edo State Police Command has detained Uzebor Emmanuel, known online as “Aza Woman,” for issuing a false alarm that students at Green Park Academy Aduwawa and Western Boys’ College Ikpoba Hill in Benin City were kidnapped.

Emmanuel posted a viral video in which he claimed that terrorists had entered the schools and abducted several students. He said that six pupils were taken by various minibuses, with some escaping while others allegedly paid ransom.

SP Eno Ikoedem, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the publications caused widespread fear, heightened public anxiety, and could erode confidence in the state’s security system.

In a statement released on Sunday, the PPRO announced that the suspect will be “charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

The command urged the public to “exercise restraint, verify information from credible sources before sharing, and refrain from using social media platforms to disseminate falsehoods capable of disturbing public peace and order.”
