Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, the Emir of Dutse, as Pro‑Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Sokoto State University.
The decision was announced in a statement from the Sokoto State Government, which also approved new chairmen for the governing councils of several other state tertiary institutions.
According to the statement, the appointments are effective immediately and are intended to reinforce leadership and governance at the state’s higher‑education institutions, thereby fostering educational development and excellence.
In related moves, Governor Aliyu named Alhaji Yusuf Jega as chairman of the Governing Board of the College of Agriculture, and Alhaji Yusuf Muhammad Goronyo as chairman of the Governing Board of Sultan Abdulrahman College of Health Technology in Gwadabawa.
Professor Ahmed Muhammad Gumel, vice‑chancellor of the Federal University Dutse, congratulated the Emir on behalf of the university’s governing council, management, staff, and students.
Professor Gumel said the appointment recognises the Emir’s leadership qualities, extensive experience, and dedication to educational progress, and expressed confidence that he will make significant contributions to the growth of Sokoto State University.
