A tragedy unfolded in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, when former Senior Programme Producer of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku—known to many as “Aunty Kitan”—and her security guard were found dead at her home. The incident has raised serious concerns among residents of the Agodo community along the Kobape axis.

The bodies were discovered on Sunday, June 21, in the early hours of the morning. Initial reports suggested that unknown assailants may have entered the residence on Saturday night, killed the victims, and fled with Mrs. Oyesiku’s vehicle and mobile phone.

Mrs. Oyesiku, who had retired after a long tenure at OGTV, was respected for her professionalism, warmth, and dedication to broadcasting. Her loss has left family members, neighbours, friends, and former colleagues deeply affected.

In response, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the incident was reported to the Owode Egba Police Division by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village who had noticed suspicious activity at the house.

Police detectives were dispatched immediately. Preliminary observations indicated forced entry and signs of a disturbance. “The corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms. Kitan Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. The victim’s vehicle was also observed missing from the premises,” the statement read.

Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an intensive investigation, directing detectives to uncover the circumstances of the deaths and bring the perpetrators to justice. “The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired OGTV personality, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard,” he added.

The police have expanded surveillance and intelligence-led operations across relevant locations to track down those responsible. They have also urged the public to remain calm and to provide any information that could aid the investigation.

In a statement, the command expressed condolences to the family, the OGTV community, and the broader media industry, assuring that no effort would be spared in securing justice for the victims.
