Villarreal have decided not to extend midfielder Thomas Partey’s contract for another season, according to The Athletic.

As a result, the Ghanaian international will be a free agent once the current season ends.

Partey joined Villarreal after leaving Arsenal last summer and made 32 appearances in all competitions during his one year with the club.

He is currently in Canada for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, but was recently denied a visa to enter the country because of an ongoing legal proceeding in the United Kingdom.

In other news, Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement to sign Bernardo Silva.

Silva departed Manchester City at the conclusion of last season and will now play under new manager Jose Mourinho at Madrid.

The Portuguese international will be a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until 30 June 2028.
