UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announces he will resign.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation on Monday after serving less than two years in office, a tenure marked by frequent policy reversals and widespread public disapproval.

“Every decision I have taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party,” Starmer said, speaking emotionally outside 10 Downing Street.

He added that a new Labour Party leader would be selected in July, and he would remain Prime Minister until his successor is chosen, expected to take office in September.
