Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday to face trial following a bench warrant for his arrest.

Sowore, who also publishes Sahara Reporters, entered the court accompanied by group members holding placards.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Mohammed Umar had, on June 16, revoked a bail granted to Sowore after his failure to appear in court for his trial.

In a ruling on an oral application submitted by lawyer Akinkolu Kehinde, SAN, representing the Department of State Services (DSS), Justice Mohammed Umar also issued a bench warrant for Sowore's arrest.

The DSS is prosecuting Sowore for allegedly making false claims against President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as “a criminal” in a post he made on his “X” and Facebook accounts.

As at the time of filing this report, the court is yet to begin sitting. (NAN)
