Minister of Works David Umahi announced that the South‑East will endorse President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 general election.
Umahi made the declaration while inspecting ongoing federal road projects across Ebonyi State over the weekend.
A statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Francis Nwaze, said the minister expressed gratitude for the infrastructure projects being carried out under the Tinubu administration.
“South‑East is very appreciative of what the President is doing. By Monday, under the leadership of the Governor of Ebonyi State, we will demonstrate this appreciation when we adopt the President as our sole candidate,” Umahi said.
Speaking at the project sites, the minister highlighted several federal initiatives in the South‑East, describing them as evidence of the administration’s commitment to inclusion and development in the region.
He also revealed that the Federal Government has allocated funds in the 2026 budget to connect a major road corridor to Ebonyi State’s capital.
The minister assured contractors that, despite payment delays, work would continue without interruption.
“All contractors being owed will be paid. There should be no stoppage of work because we want to see if we can commission this project by December,” he said.
Umahi maintained that the people of the South‑East have taken notice of the projects being delivered and are ready to publicly show their support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
