FIFA has officially announced that Côte d’Ivoire holds the title of the youngest squad in the 2026 World Cup.

The governing body made the statement on its official World Cup X account on Sunday.

“Introducing Côte d’Ivoire… Youngest squad at the FIFA World Cup 2026” with “Average age: 25.8,” it wrote.

This announcement comes as the Elephants prepare to face Ecuador in their opening match of the tournament.

Head coach Emerse Fae has assembled a dynamic team featuring talent from Europe’s top leagues, following the golden era of legends such as Didier Drogba and Yaya Touré.

Fae has also chosen to leave behind several veterans, including 33‑year‑old forward Wilfried Zaha, who is currently on loan at Charlotte FC from Galatasaray.
