Justice Binta Fatimah Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Isa Isiaka, a father of 11 children and husband of two wives, to 20 years in prison for deliberately refusing to provide information about Boko Haram activities to the Federal Government.
Isiaka was taken into custody on Monday after admitting guilt to terrorism charges brought by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
Immediately after the charge was read, the accused did not waste any time and admitted that he was guilty as charged.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who represented the Federal Government, accused the convict of hiding information that could have led to the immediate arrest of Boko Haram members.
Isiaka pleaded for leniency, citing his status as a first‑time offender, a father of 11 children, and a husband of two wives.
Justice Binta Nyako rejected his plea as untenable and imposed a 20‑year prison sentence without the option of a fine.
