Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey is making a name for himself as one of the best center‑backs in the world. Only four years ago, he was struggling at Ajax.

He had joined the club from Rangers and was expected to be the next big thing, but after failing to adapt, he was shipped out to Fulham.

At Craven Cottage, he has come into his own. He has featured in 101 games, with four goals to his name, and has been vital in helping the club maintain their Premier League status.

In fact, two seasons ago, he was named Fulham’s Player of the Season, and last season, he finished second, behind Harry Wilson.

He is at the prime age of 26, entering the peak of his powers. Bassey is valued at €28 million on Transfermarkt, making him affordable for most top clubs. Furthermore, Fulham may not be able to play hardball, as Bassey has just one year left on his contract.

Moreover, Bassey currently earns around €29,000 weekly. This means that suitors would not have to offer him hundreds of thousands to convince him, unless a bidding war ensues.

Also, the former Leicester City man has a great attitude and temperament, maintaining strong relationships with his teammates at both club and international levels. Surprisingly, however, he continues to be snubbed.
