Tunisia have reportedly separated from head coach Sabri Lamouchi after the Carthage Eagles suffered a 5-1 loss to Sweden in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, reports Comoletesports.com.

The North African side was outmatched by the Swedes on Sunday night, leading the Tunisia Football Federation to enact a rapid managerial change.

Former head coach Mondher Kebaier is expected to assume interim control of the squad for the remainder of the tournament.

Tunisia will look to recover when they meet Japan in their next Group Stage encounter on Sunday, June 21.

Lamouchi Ends Difficult Reign

Lamouchi was appointed Tunisia head coach in January 2026 and oversaw four matches during his brief tenure.

The former African champions scored only one goal while conceding 11 across those four games.

The Carthage Eagles began his spell with a 0-0 draw against Canada, then lost 1-0 to Austria and 5-0 to Belgium. The heavy defeat to Sweden ultimately proved to be the final blow.
