Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said his side’s 1‑1 draw with Morocco in the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup was due to nervousness, loss of possession and an imbalance on the field, especially in the first half.
The match began with Morocco taking the lead through Ismael Saibari, before Vinícius Júnior equalised for Brazil.
During the post‑match press conference, Ancelotti explained that Brazil had struggled to establish control early on against the African side.
“I think this match, especially the first half, was very difficult. Because I think the team was a bit too nervous, lost possession a lot, and lacked balance on the field,” he said.
Despite the sluggish start, the former Real Madrid manager praised his players’ improvement after the break.
“The second half was much better. It was a difficult match, but the team will be better in the next game,” Ancelotti added.
Brazil will now prepare for their next group fixture against Haiti on Saturday, while Morocco will face Scotland on Friday.
