War: Iran must negotiate with US, stop attacking neighbours – Germany

Germany has urged Iran to engage in serious negotiations with the United States and to cease attacks on neighboring states.

In a statement on X, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned Iran for its recent assaults on neighboring countries.

Merz warned that strikes on nuclear facilities, in particular, threaten the safety of people across the entire region.

“There must be no further escalation of violence,” he said. “Iran must enter into serious negotiations with the USA, stop threatening its neighbors, and open the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions.”

Earlier this week, a fire broke out at a nuclear power plant site in the United Arab Emirates after weekend strikes.

The UAE said there was no radiation risk and no injuries.

Saudi Arabia also reported intercepting new drone attacks.
