Hull City have secured promotion to the English Premier League after a dramatic 1‑0 win over Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship playoff final on Saturday, Afrik‑Foot reports.

A stoppage‑time strike from Oliver McBurnie sealed the result for the Tigers, ensuring their return to the top flight for the first time in nine years.

Beyond ending a nearly decade‑long absence, the victory brings a substantial financial windfall for the club.

According to The Sun, Hull City are set to receive around €249 million for winning the playoffs and qualifying for the top flight—the highest payout in playoff history.

Like most newly promoted sides, the Tigers will need to invest heavily in new signings to compete at the highest level.

The squad already contains Nigerian talent, and Afrik‑Foot highlights five Super Eagles stars Hull City could target this summer to strengthen their Premier League prospects.

1. Wilfred Ndidi

Recently, newly promoted Premier League clubs have increasingly sought players with proven top‑flight experience—players who already understand the terrain. This makes Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi an ideal target for Hull City.

The 29‑year‑old midfielder boasts extensive Premier League experience, having starred for Leicester City across seven seasons in the top flight.

Available at a reasonable valuation of around €10 million, Ndidi offers excellent value. He is exceptional at breaking down play, marking, and distributing the ball, making him a strong option for the Tigers.

2. Samuel Chukwueze

The Super Eagles winger would be another strong addition to Hull City. Chukwueze is currently finishing a loan spell at Fulham, and with the London club yet to make the move permanent, the door remains open.

This uncertainty gives Hull City a golden opportunity to swoop in. A deal should be relatively straightforward, as AC Milan are reportedly ready to do business.

The Rossoneri are expected to demand a fee in the region of €26 million. With Hull City’s coffers brimming with playoff prize money, the transfer is within reach.

3. Calvin Bassey

Of the players mentioned, this would undoubtedly be the toughest deal to pull off, but it would be well worth the effort.

For any newly promoted side, defensive solidity is the ultimate priority, and few can provide that better than Calvin Bassey. He has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League over the last two years. Anchoring the backline alongside the right partner, he has the quality to spearhead a successful survival campaign.

Snapping him away from the Cottagers will not be cheap or easy; Hull City would need to pitch a highly convincing project to the former Ajax man. Fulham are likely to hold out for a fee in the region of €50 million.

Injecting any of these Super Eagles stars into the squad would give Hull City a significant boost in key areas of the pitch. It remains to be seen who the club will prioritise when the summer transfer window officially opens.
