England winger Bukayo Saka said he is willing to continue taking risks with his fitness to benefit the team’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
On Monday, Saka confirmed he is fit to play in the Group L opening match against Croatia in Dallas.
The 24‑year‑old is coping with a lingering Achilles injury he sustained while playing for Arsenal.
Before the tournament, manager Thomas Tuchel noted that Saka had been unable to train on consecutive days.
Now Saka told reporters that players often step onto the pitch even when not fully fit.
“As players, it’s the biggest gamble, especially if you’re not feeling your sharpest,” Saka said.
“You have the choice whether you don’t play or you put yourself out there knowing people are going to judge you the same.”
