Police arrest 27‑year‑old woman and three others in vegetable market abduction case

Edo State Police Command announced that five suspects connected to the vegetable market kidnapping in Benin City have been arrested to date.

According to DAILY POST, Public Relations Officer ASP Eno Ikoedem conveyed this information in a statement released to journalists in Benin City.

Ikoedem noted that during the rescue operation on June 14, 2026, one suspect, identified only as Precious, was neutralized in a gun duel.

She added that the same operation resulted in the arrest of 32‑year‑old Marvelous Isaac.

She said operatives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) apprehended Marvelous Isaac during a coordinated operation.

The Command’s image maker reported that items recovered from Marvelous Isaac included a red Lexus RX 350 SUV (registration EKP 848 AE) that he admitted was used in the kidnapping, a pump‑action shotgun, two live cartridges, cash amounting to N2,050 million, and a motorcycle.

Ikoedem also said that on June 20, 2026, operatives carried out another operation in Benin City and parts of Delta State, arresting three additional suspects.

She added that among the three arrested was 27‑year‑old female Gift Raphael, who subsequently led operatives to the capture of Wisdom Michael and Rufus Michael.

She said all suspects have made confessional statements tying them to the vegetable market incident and other criminal activities in the state.

Meanwhile, State Police Commissioner Monday Agbonika praised the operatives for their professionalism, courage, promptness, and dedication in dismantling the criminal network.

Agbonika assured residents that the police would not cease their efforts until all criminal elements were brought to justice.
