The Kebbi State Police Command has denied reports that schools in the state have been shut down because of insecurity, calling the claims false.

SP Bashir Usman, the command’s spokesperson, issued the clarification on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi in response to allegations of school closures, kidnappings, and parents withdrawing their children.

He said the rumors are untrue and emphasized that academic activities are proceeding as scheduled throughout the state.

Usman added that students have recently started the new term and that graduating pupils are safely taking the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) at various centers across Kebbi.

He noted that the state’s school calendar remains under the Ministry of Education’s supervision and has not been disrupted by security concerns.

The spokesperson also said that security agencies, working with vigilante groups, continue to conduct intelligence‑led operations across the state to preserve peace and protect residents.

He highlighted that recent arrests and the neutralisation of criminal elements demonstrate the effectiveness of current security efforts and urged the public to ignore unfounded rumors that could cause panic.
