Governor Nasir Idris has commended the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial primaries held on Monday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
The exercise brought together aspirants from Kebbi Central, Kebbi North, and Kebbi South senatorial districts.
Speaking at the event, the governor praised party members for their discipline, loyalty, and commitment to consensus-building, describing the process as a demonstration of unity within the APC in Kebbi State.
Governor Idris acknowledged the voluntary withdrawal of several aspirants in the interest of party unity, including Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant, Engineer Garba Haruna, Dr. Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa, and Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah.
He said their decisions reflected political maturity and commitment to the collective interest of the party.
The APC ultimately produced its senatorial candidates through consensus arrangements, with Senator Adamu Aliero emerging as flag bearer for Kebbi Central, Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi for Kebbi North, and retired General Jafar Muhammad Gajere for Kebbi South.
The affirmation of the candidates was endorsed by the Chairman of the Primary Election Appeal Committee, Comrade Garba Muhammad, alongside Barrister Attahiru Maccido, Chairman of the Affirmation Committee, amid cheers from party supporters.
