The Kano State Censorship Board has imposed a one‑year suspension on Kannywood actors Amina Uba Hassan and Adam Garba. The ban follows the release of a video that the board described as contrary to the state’s moral and cultural values.

In a statement released on Sunday, spokesperson Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman said the suspension was triggered by the circulation of the controversial clip, which drew widespread public criticism across Kano State.

According to the board, both actors are prohibited from engaging in any film‑related activities within the state for the duration of the suspension.

“The board has the legal authority to suspend any Kannywood practitioner from operating in Kano, and violation of this directive could attract severe penalties under the law,” the statement added.

Board chairman Abba El‑Mustapha urged industry members to avoid actions that could harm their reputation or undermine the integrity of the film sector. He also called on producers and directors to fully enforce the suspension order, warning that any attempt to ignore it would constitute a direct violation of the board’s regulations.
