Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about the impact of losing her father at age 16, noting that the tragedy caused many people to lose faith in her future.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Rosman said the death was traumatic enough to make her contemplate suicide.

She recalled that during her mourning, some people warned that she might become a prostitute because she had lost her father.

Rosman said she turned the setback and ensuing financial hardship into motivation for her goals.

She said, “After I lost my dad at 16, many people said to me that I would end up becoming a prostitute and get pregnant out of wedlock.”

“Grief can drive you to a point of suicide because grief is probably one of the hardest things to overcome. My tough upbringing definitely prepared me to want to do better every day. I don’t know how ambitious I would have been if I grew up in a very comfortable environment.”
