The House of Representatives has reorganised several standing committees after changes in the minority caucus leadership.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announced the move during Monday’s emergency plenary, noting that the reshuffle was necessary because some lawmakers had taken new roles in the minority leadership, leaving certain committee chairs vacant.

He said the vacancies required a new allocation of committee responsibilities to keep legislative work running smoothly.

Under the new arrangement, the House Committee on Special Duties, which had been chaired by new Minority Leader Fred Agbedi, is now led by Aliyu Madaki, who had previously served as deputy minority leader.

Ali Isa, formerly the minority whip, has been appointed chairperson of the House Committee on Shippers Council, replacing Abdulsamad Dasuki, who is now deputy minority leader.

Similarly, the House Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises, once headed by Mansur Soro, has been reassigned to Pascal Agbodike after Soro was promoted to minority whip.
