EPL: Shearer names three Arsenal players to compete for Player of the Season

Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer has tipped three Arsenal stars as potential Premier League Player of the Season contenders, provided the Gunners go on to lift the title.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer singled out David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice as serious candidates for the individual prize if Mikel Arteta’s side claim the English top-flight league ahead of Manchester City.

Arsenal will face Burnley on Monday night before wrapping up the campaign against Crystal Palace next Sunday.

A victory against both teams will see Mikel Arteta’s side win the Premier League title.

“If Arsenal win the Premier League, which we expect them to do, I would chuck David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice in there,” Shearer said when speaking about players that should contend for the Premier League Player of the Year.

He added, “I am not taking anything away from Bruno Fernandes. He has been outstanding. God knows where Manchester United would be without him.”
