Tension erupted in Karim Lamido after a vehicle belonging to Oliver Suleiman, the director‑general of Senator Shua’ibu Isa Lau’s campaign team, was violently attacked by aggrieved youths.

Eyewitnesses say the incident followed a confrontation in which the youths accused the campaign team of political betrayal, manipulation of party primary processes, and dissatisfaction with the senator’s decade‑long leadership.

Community sources report that the youths alleged Senator Lau had abandoned promises made during earlier election campaigns.

They claimed that, despite ten years in office, the senator had failed to deliver significant development and empowerment projects to the constituency.

The situation intensified when accusations surfaced that some campaign affiliates were attempting to influence the outcome of the local party primary.

Residents said voters and party supporters were denied a fair and transparent electoral process, sparking widespread anger among party loyalists and local youths.

During the clash, the vehicle carrying Suleiman and his team was heavily attacked and vandalised by the mob.

The windscreen, windows, and other parts of the vehicle sustained severe damage as the protesters expressed their frustration.

Sources say the campaign coordinator and his entourage narrowly avoided injury after fleeing the scene amid the chaos.
