ZLP unveils new Delta gubernatorial candidate who pledges to win Oborevwori.

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has announced its 2027 gubernatorial candidate for Delta State: Emeka Nkwoala.

Nkwoala previously served as the state chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

He secured the ZLP nomination at the party’s governorship congress in Asaba, which was overseen by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.

In his acceptance speech, Nkwoala emphasized that the primary goal of his administration would be achieved through collaboration with the party’s National Assembly and House of Representatives candidates.

He claimed that his extensive experience and leadership within the ZLP would enable him to challenge and defeat the incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in a free and fair election.

Nkwoala noted that, although Governor Oborevwori has made progress in infrastructure—particularly by attracting Julius Berger to build roads, bridges, and flyovers—the ZLP has a strategic agenda that he believes will surpass the current governor’s record.

“No doubt, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has performed well in infrastructural delivery. But considering the resources accruing to the state, I shall do far better because, unlike him, I have no godfather but I have God as a Father,” Nkwoala said.

He highlighted the party’s House of Assembly candidate, Sir Aghogho Green Meretin, a former Majority Leader of Ethiope West LGA and a grassroots mobilizer, who will help secure effective legislation.

Nkwoala pledged that the party would establish a free‑education system to benefit the state’s future generation, expand access to free healthcare, and usher in a new era of road infrastructure.
