Zamfara Police Recover Stolen 10‑Day‑Old Baby and Arrest Suspect

The Zamfara State Police Command announced a significant development in a case involving alleged human trafficking, a baby factory, and the theft of a 10‑day‑old infant from General Hospital in Kaura Namoda.

DSP Yazid Abubakar, a spokesperson for the Command, said the incident was reported to the Kaura Namoda Division three days before the child was recovered.

The statement added that hospital staff who were on duty during the incident were invited to testify as part of the ongoing investigation.

On 15 May 2026, at approximately 08:35 hrs, the police recovered the infant in a nearby hamlet, the name of which has not been released.

Police confirmed that the baby was unharmed and has since been reunited with its biological parents.

A suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is in police custody and will be further investigated.

CP Ahmad Bello, Commissioner of Police for the Zamfara State Command, thanked the public for providing timely information that helped secure the child's safe return.

He reiterated the command’s pledge to fight all forms of criminality in the state and promised to provide further updates as the investigation proceeds.
