Zadok Yohanna’s loan move rejected – Can the Super Eagles invitee break into Brighton’s XI?

Sources close to the player have confirmed that Zadok Yohanna will stay with Brighton’s senior squad for the upcoming season, rejecting widespread reports that the Nigerian teenager would be loaned out after joining the Amex Stadium, according to Afrik Foot.

The 18‑year‑old transferred from Swedish club AIK in a deal potentially worth €28 million, making it one of the costliest teenage moves in African football history.

Brighton outbid rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United and RB Leipzig to sign him. In recent weeks, speculation grew that the club might loan Yohanna to a Spanish side to give him regular first‑team action.

Those reports have now been firmly rebutted. A source close to Yohanna told Footy‑Africa:

“The agreement is to keep the player in the first team. He has been given a personal training programme and has already started pre‑season work ahead of the club’s official resumption.”

“He’s not going on loan, what is being reported is fake news” — while also confirming that the player’s registration in England has been completed and cleared.

Brighton’s decision to retain Yohanna within Fabian Hurzeler’s senior setup is a statement of intent.
