Yusuf Buhari Secures APC House of Representatives Ticket in Katsina

Yusuf Buhari, the son of Nigeria’s late former president Muhammadu Buhari, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the House of Representatives seat representing the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.

In the primary held on Saturday, Yusuf Buhari received 6,386 votes, defeating his rival Auwal Daura, who garnered 322 votes.

The voting took place across the three local government areas of Sandamu, Daura and Mai’adua, and party officials described the process as both peaceful and transparent.

A supervising official named Ibrahim said the result reflected the preferences of the party delegates in the constituency.

“Yusuf Buhari’s overwhelming victory reflects the enduring political influence and goodwill associated with the Buhari name in the constituency and across the state,” he added.

The constituency has 21,855 registered voters. Of those, 6,837 delegates were accredited for the primary, and a total of 6,708 votes were cast.

With this win, Yusuf Buhari is expected to stand as the APC candidate for the federal constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
