Yusuf Bags Brace, Moffi Scores As Super Eagles Thrash Jamaica 3-0 To Retain Unity Cup

Alhassan Yusuf netted a brace while Terem Moffi added a goal as Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Jamaica 3‑0 to keep the Unity Cup in their possession at The Valley on Saturday.

The Super Eagles remain unbeaten in the competition, extending their perfect record and lifting the trophy for a fourth time.

To reach the final, the Super Eagles beat Zimbabwe 2‑0, with Femi Azeez scoring twice and Moffi providing the assists for both goals.

Jamaica earned a place in the final after a 2‑0 victory over India in the second semifinal.

Yusuf Gives Super Eagles The Perfect Start

The Super Eagles opened the scoring just three minutes into the match when Yusuf slotted the ball home after the Jamaica keeper parried a flicked header from a long throw into the midfielder’s path.

In the 59th minute the Super Eagles doubled their advantage when Moffi, left unmarked inside the box, headed Azeez’s cross into an empty net.

Then, in the first minute of added time, Yusuf added the third goal, running onto a laid pass from Philip Otele and curling the ball beyond the reach of the Jamaican keeper.

Zimbabwe Pip India To Clinch Third Place

In the third‑place match played earlier on Saturday, Zimbabwe edged India 1‑0.

A penalty converted by Prince Dube with ten minutes left in the first half sealed the win for the Warriors.

Both the Super Eagles and Zimbabwe are using the Unity Cup as preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will run from September to November 2026.

Eric Chelle’s side are in Group L with Tanzania, Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau, while Zimbabwe will face DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone in Group E.
