Former Nigerian internationals Ifeanyi Udeze and Brown Ideye praised South Africa’s hard‑won 1‑1 draw with Czechia in the second match of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Teboho Mokoena’s penalty in the 83rd minute secured the point for the Bafana Bafana during the Thursday encounter.

South Africa’s game started poorly when Michal Sadílek scored the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup, a sixth‑minute strike that put Czechia ahead early.

With seven minutes remaining, Mokoena converted from the spot after Czech substitute Pavel Sulc was penalised for a handball while attempting to block a shot from Thapelo Maseko.

Ideye Praises South Africa’s Comeback

Ideye lauded the Bafana Bafana’s never‑say‑die spirit but criticised the team for not securing the maximum three points after equalising with a penalty.
