British broadcaster Piers Morgan defended Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo while naming Bruno Fernandes as the player who performed poorly in Portugal’s World Cup opener against DR Congo.
Morgan said Fernandes’ display was subpar compared with Ronaldo’s, after Portugal drew 1‑1 with DR Congo.
He added that the Manchester United midfielder “barely had a good kick” during the match.
“Have you watched the Portugal game? I thought the one who had the really bad game was Bruno Fernandes,” Morgan told Sports Uncensored.
“I think Declan Rice was the Premier League Player of the Season. I thought he [Fernandes] barely had a good kick in the game against DR Congo.”
“Ronaldo, playing as a no. 9 rather than a flying winger, needs the service from the team, but he did not get the service.”
