Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said he was disappointed with his team’s result against Morocco.

The South Americans were held to a 1‑1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Battle for Crucial Points

Morocco shocked the Seleção when Brahim Diaz split the Brazil defence with a perfectly weighted through ball that Ismael Saibari ran onto and lifted past the on‑rushing Alisson.

Vinicius Jr restored parity for Brazil two minutes after the half‑hour mark.

There seemed to be little danger when Vinicius Jr was fed by Bruno Guimaraes wide and deep on the left of the penalty box, but he cut back inside and unleashed a blistering right‑foot effort that rocketed beyond the helpless Yassine Bounou.

Ancelotti Unhappy With Stalemate

Ancelotti admitted that his side had a sluggish start to the encounter.

“I think we didn’t start very well, I’m a little worried. We lost a lot of duels and possession, but we improved in the second half of a difficult match, because Morocco is a good team,” Ancelotti was quoted by FIFA.com.

“In the first half, we had difficulty getting out of the pressure, we could have had more control. [Was I] satisfied? Not really. I expected a better start. But things can happen. Now I’m going to focus on the next game.”

Brazil will face Haiti in their second Group C game at the Philadelphia Stadium on Saturday, 20 June, while Morocco will play Scotland.
