During the launch of the Water Supply Network to Karu Satellite Town, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike announced that the projects being commissioned across Abuja would not have been possible without President Bola Tinubu’s support.
Wike made the remarks while the network was being commissioned as part of a series of projects marking the president’s third year in office. President Tinubu was represented at the ceremony by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Speaking to the crowd, Wike recalled the president’s comments during the second‑year anniversary of the Abuja Greater Water Supply project: “Mr President, you will remember that last year, when you were celebrating the second anniversary, you said we should move from the city to the satellite towns. In the 2025 national budget you included water supply for the satellite towns of AMAC, Karu, and its neighbouring communities, as well as Bwari. You provided water for two area councils.”
“Because you directed the full and early release of the funds in the national budget, today, less than one year later, you have come back to commission the provision of water in Karu and its neighbouring communities,” Wike added.
He noted that the contract had been awarded in August of last year, and the project is now being fully commissioned in June, “which is less than one year.” He added that the Bwari Area Council water supply will be commissioned on July 14.
Wike emphasized that the president’s vision extends beyond infrastructure in the city and roads in the satellite towns; “the fundamental need for water must also be met.” He expressed confidence that the community would be pleased, saying, “I’m sure that the community would be happy and smiling that to the glory of God the Renewed Hope Agenda is working and people can see it.”
