Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo could be set to leave Wrexham for another Championship club this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.

Okonkwo joined Wrexham from Arsenal in 2024 and enjoyed a productive start to his career in Wales. In his debut season, he played a pivotal role in helping the club secure promotion to the English Championship.

Heading into the following campaign—his first in the Championship—Okonkwo was initially expected to play second fiddle to Danny Ward.

However, after the Welshman suffered an injury at the start of the season, a starting opportunity opened up for the 24-year-old.

Okonkwo seized the chance with both hands, establishing himself as a key player for the Red Dragons.

Despite this, he was relegated to the bench for the final four games of the season. This move signaled that the Nigerian goalkeeper was no longer viewed as a starter.

With only one season remaining on his contract, that sparked speculation that his future might lie away from the Racecourse Ground.

Contract Standoff Fuels Arthur Okonkwo Transfer Rumors

According to Sportsboom, contract extension talks between Wrexham and Arthur Okonkwo have stalled. Consequently, the Super Eagles goalkeeper is reportedly considering an exit this summer.

The 24-year-old is not short on suitors, with offers already on the table from several Championship sides.

Asides his experience in the Championship and the Austrian top flight, his recent debut for the Nigerian national team has significantly enhanced his market value.

Okonkwo is currently valued at €5 million—an affordable fee for most top Championship clubs.

Wrexham faces a critical decision s it stands. If they cannot reach an agreement on a contract extension, they will likely look to sell him.

While a stay remains possible, a club with Wrexham’s financial profile would undoubtedly welcome the any money that comes in from his sale.
