Why Nnamdi Kanu Fired Ifeanyi Ejiofor as Counsel – Lawyer

Barrister Christopher Chidera, a member of Nnamdi Kanu’s defense team, explained why Kanu dismissed Ifeanyi Ejiofor as his counsel during the terrorism trial.

Ejiofor had served as Kanu’s counsel in the Abuja Federal High Court trial until the IPOB leader chose to represent himself before Justice James Omotosho.

Chidera, who also works as a public affairs analyst, detailed Kanu’s decision in a statement released on Tuesday.

He said, “As a legal practitioner and public affairs analyst committed to constitutional supremacy, fair hearing, and respect for court orders, I write on the circumstances surrounding the disengagement of Ifeanyi Ejiofor from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team. With the appeal now before the Court of Appeal following conviction, the public should not be misled by distortions that conceal critical professional failures.”

Chidera pointed to what he called grave mistakes that extended Kanu’s unlawful detention.
