Why Atletico Madrid Must Sell Alvarez and Agüero

Former Argentina striker Sergio Agüero has urged Atlético Madrid to sell Julián Álvarez, arguing that retaining an unhappy player harms everyone involved.

After Álvarez publicly declared his desire to depart, Agüero contends that transferring the forward is the most beneficial outcome for both the player and the team’s morale.

He backed Barcelona as an ideal landing spot, calling Álvarez a spectacular fit for their playing style.

“I can’t hide either. I try to be an honest person. I spoke with the people at the club I needed to speak with. The best thing for everyone is a transfer, and I want to fulfil my dream.”

“He says he met with the club and decided a transfer is the best option. It’s very difficult. When a player isn’t happy, each club takes their own stance and the player ends up losing out,” he told Jijantes FC.

“If he’s not comfortable, the best thing is to find a solution and sell him. You’re not going to have a player in a bad mood all year round.”

“With that clause, the decision lies with the club. The club will decide whether or not to sell you, and he, to be honest, ended up saying as much, and that’s for the best,” he explained.
