Venezuela earthquake death toll rises to 920

Yesterday, international rescue teams intensified efforts to find survivors trapped under collapsed buildings in Venezuela, following two powerful earthquakes that killed more than 900 people and injured thousands, marking one of the country's deadliest natural disasters in over a century.

Venezuelan officials report that at least 920 people have been confirmed dead, and more than 3,300 others have been injured following twin earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 that struck almost a minute apart on Wednesday night. The second quake is considered the strongest to strike the South American country since 1900.

Emergency responders are racing against time to rescue those suspected of being trapped under rubble before the critical 72‑hour “golden window” for locating survivors closes, the BBC reported.
