USA Coach Pochettino Names Tournament’s Best Coach

USA manager Mauricio Pochettino has declared Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni the best coach of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pochettino spoke to reporters before the USA’s Friday match against Australia.

He also said he is familiar with Scaloni’s coaching staff.

“Many of Argentina’s players are world champions from Qatar. The coach [Lionel Scaloni] is the best one at this World Cup, and I know his staff very well, and the fans are amazing,” Pochettino said.

He added that Messi is the final piece, making the combination hard to face.

The USA and Argentina each won their opening matches, defeating Paraguay and Algeria respectively.

If the USA finish first in Group D and Argentina win their group, the two sides would only meet in the semi‑final or the final.
