US launches new air strikes against Iran

The United States forces carried out air strikes on Friday that targeted Iranian missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites.

A statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks were a response to an Iranian drone strike on a Singapore‑flagged cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire,” CENTCOM said. “Furthermore, Iran’s dangerous behavior undermined freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor.”

The strikes occurred shortly after President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the United States would investigate whether it would respond.
