Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that Israel will not withdraw from Lebanon or any other territory it has occupied.
Katz made the comment on Monday after the United States and Iran announced a memorandum of understanding on Sunday.
He said that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are following a clear policy that keeps the Israel Defense Forces in the security zones of Lebanon, Syria and Gaza indefinitely.
“The area will be cleared of local residents and all terrorist infrastructure, above and below ground—including the houses in the contact villages that served as terrorist outposts—will be destroyed,” Katz said.
Daily Post reports that U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran had been completed.
At the time this report was filed, Netanyahu had not yet commented on the announced U.S.–Iran understanding.
