Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, stated that the insecurity in Nigeria did not begin under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking to journalists, the minister observed that incidents of insecurity tend to rise as elections approach.

He urged Nigerians to refrain from politicising the security situation, emphasizing that safeguarding the country is a collective responsibility.

“It’s appalling when people talk about insecurity, especially extreme politicians, and insult President Tinubu,” Umahi said.

“Insecurity didn’t start with this administration. It is very unfortunate. Security is the job of everyone. Security should not be politicised.”

“Why is it that anytime we are approaching elections, there is heightened insecurity? It is very unfair. Anyone who takes the life of another person under any guise, God is watching,” he added.
