United States President Donald Trump stated that U.S. military strikes in Nigeria prevented further attacks on Christians by terrorists, asserting that the operation halted widespread killings of Christian communities.
During a weekend event in Washington, Trump explained that the military action aimed at the leaders of the terrorist group behind the attacks and served as a stern warning against additional violence.
He added that the operation markedly lowered the number of killings and protected more civilians from attack.
Trump also noted that the military action was part of his administration’s wider strategy to safeguard Christians worldwide and to counter terrorist groups wherever they operate.
He compared the Nigerian operation to recent U.S. military action against Iran, stating that both were intended to address significant security threats.
