Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Sign Peace Deal

President Donald Trump of the United States has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran at the Palace of Versailles, stating that the agreement will help avoid a potential “worldwide depression.”

The 14‑point accord has been released, and senior U.S. officials describe it as a “major win,” even though it involved significant concessions to Tehran.

During remarks on Wednesday, Trump said that Iran has the right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes. He also stated that the United States would not force Tehran to abandon its ballistic‑missile program and that the U.S. would “have to return” billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement on Wednesday from Tehran.

Vice‑President J.D. Vance is expected to sign the accord in a formal ceremony in Geneva on Friday.

Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, remarked, “The agreement is a testament to US failure. People will observe it and make their judgments.”

In defense of the deal, Trump asserted that no U.S. president had been as stringent with Iran as he has been, adding, “there is nothing as intelligent as the market – and the market appreciates it.”

He argued that “the alternative would be a worldwide depression,” and that without the agreement, “the Strait of Hormuz would never have been opened. They are not fond of having billion‑dollar ships navigating the strait while their rockets are in the air and mines are scattered everywhere.”

Senior officials said the agreement will help prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. It includes a commitment to discuss the down‑blending of Iran’s 440 kg stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which could otherwise be further enriched for weapon use.

Trump has indicated that he is willing for the stockpile to be diluted within Iran under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
