Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) rescued six travelers who had been abducted by suspected kidnappers on the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sanyin Road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation also continues to search for the missing driver of the vehicle.

The abduction took place in the early hours of Friday when the kidnappers intercepted a vehicle carrying passengers from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Jos, Plateau State.

Captain Polycarp Oteh, the Media Information Officer for OPSH, confirmed the incident. He said that troops from Sector 6 of Operation Enduring Peace responded quickly to a distress call and successfully rescued six of the victims.

He added that efforts are still underway to recover the remaining victim, the driver.

“At the early hours of today, troops of Sector 6 Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call on a kidnapping incident and swiftly mobilised, successfully rescuing six out of the kidnapped victims,” he said. “Deliberate effort is currently ongoing to rescue the driver. There is no cause for alarm. Troops are on top of the situation,” he added.

According to our correspondent, the troops arrived at the scene to find an ash‑coloured Honda abandoned by the roadside, its occupants missing. A search‑and‑rescue operation in the surrounding bushes then yielded the six rescued victims.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were traveling from Lafia to Jos when their vehicle was intercepted by the kidnappers.
