Troops of Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), arrested a suspected arms courier, seized a large cache of ammunition, and intercepted a cattle‑rustling operation in North East Nigeria.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, announced the operation in a statement on Saturday. He said that troops from Sector 2 OPFY, positioned at a checkpoint in Kaura, intercepted a civilian vehicle heading toward Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Inside the vehicle, they recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a magazine, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition that had been concealed in a sack of millet, among other items, on 5 June 2026.

The statement added that, following an investigation, the seized items were found to have been transported by a 42‑year‑old suspect named Mustapha Abubakar. Authorities believe he is involved in the illegal movement of arms and ammunition to terrorists operating in the region and was on his way to deliver the contraband to an accomplice.
