During a nighttime operation, troops of the Joint Task Force North‑East, operating under the Hadin Kai campaign, intercepted and neutralised two suspected terrorists in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst and counter‑insurgency specialist Zagazola Makama announced the development on his X account.

According to security sources, the ambush—carried out as part of Operation Desert Sanity/Siege Operations—occurred around 11:05 p.m. on 13 May 2026 in Bazamri village, a key crossing point used by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Sources say the troops set up a concealed position, intercepted the attackers, and engaged them in a firefight that resulted in the elimination of two insurgents.

After the confrontation, the forces conducted a clearance sweep of the area and seized several items believed to be logistical supplies for the attackers.

The recovered items included 54 packs of 80‑gram detergent, 32 packs of 500‑gram salt, and one carton of spaghetti.

Military officials confirmed that no personnel were injured during the operation.

The ambush team then repositioned and maintained surveillance in the vicinity as part of ongoing counter‑terrorism efforts.

Security sources noted that troop morale and operational effectiveness remained high, and that offensive operations across the theatre continued.
